Rudraksha: the sacred seed
The name Rudraksha comes from Hindu mythology and means the tears of Shiva. Lord Shiva sat in meditation for the welfare of humanity and wept tears of compassion. The tears crystallized when they hit the ground and transformed into Rudraksha. Since then Rudrakshas are considered sacred as they have a healing effect on the one who wears it. Therefore, they are used spiritually by Hindus and Buddhists for puja and meditation. The use of Rudrakshas in malas is recognized in the Vedas and in Ayurveda medicine.
Rudrakshas range in size from 3mm to 40mm. The smallest are the rarest and most valuable Rudrakshas. Rudraksha malas are long-lived, known to last up to eight generations!
Each seed has a series of segments, called mukhi. The seeds that Mala Spirit uses to make malas is the one with 5 mukhi and represents Lord Shiva. It is the most popular seed in Hinduism and Buddhism, and is often used in malas worn around the neck.
Each Rudraksha seed is pierced in the same direction it grows. And in this same way, they are tied to the mala, which allows the prana or vital energy to flow when the Rudraksha is integrated into the mala.
Ecological, Sustainable and Fair Trade Jewelry
Each mala and bracelet is lovingly handcrafted from authentic Rudraksha seeds in Bali. The seeds are sustainably harvested, ethically produced and fair trade labor. Because each necklace and bracelet is made by hand and with natural products, no two products are identical.
