What is Shatavari?

Shatavari (Asparagus Racemosus), is an herb belonging to the family of
asparagáceas, which is traditionally taken throughout the life of a woman to support and promote reproductive and hormonal functions. The word Shatavari is translated as "that which has one hundred husbands".

It is a common plant throughout India, Nepal and the Himalayas. It prefers to root in gravel, rocky soils and in heights of 1,300 to 1,400 meters.

It has acicular leaves, bright green. It blooms in July with tiny white flowers and in September gives fruits of blackish purple color in the shape of globular berries.

It has a system of adventitious roots, with tuberous roots that measure about 1 meter in length and can have around one hundred plants per plant. In Ayurvedic medicine, it is precisely this part of the plant that is used for its therapeutic properties.
Why take Shatavari?
